LMF: Why don't we start with you guys introducing yourselves?
JACYN: Hi, I'm Jacyn and I am from Danvers, MA. I am 23 years old. Singing is my main thing but I have an extensive background in acting as well!
ELLE: Hey this is Elle, I am 20 years old, I was born in France but I moved to Newburyport, MA when I was 8 years old.
APRIL: Hey what's up!? My name is April, I'm 18 and I’m the latest addition to this hot and fiery girl group! hahaa Let's see, I'm from New Britain, Ct and I've been singing for about 3 or 4 years and dancing for 16 years.
LAUREN: Hey everyone! I am Lauren and I am 22 years old. I am from Yardley PA which is right outside of Philly. I have been singing acting and dancing since I was about 4 and I love to eat : )
LMF: Can you guys tell us how Jada began?
LAUREN: JADA was formed about 2 years ago by Ric and Laura Poulin. Ric is our vocal coach/music director and Laura is our Manager. Both of them own Bristol Recording & Voice Studios/Bristol Entertainment which does a lot of artist development. They decided to put a girl band together and the rest is history! :)
LMF: Who came up with the name Jada?
JACYN: We actually came up with a few names, polled our fans to see which one they liked best and JADA was the one they liked best! I love the name. It was short, sweet, and sassy haha. Kinda like us...NOT!! Well, we are sassy!
LMF: Describe your music to someone who has never heard it.
APRIL: Our music is a fun twist on what you hear out there today, and what we hope to bring to the music industry personally. It falls into the pop/r&b genre but we've got some rock stuff mixed in as well as some bluesy soulful songs. We cover it all!
LMF: Who are some of your inspirations when it comes to music?
JACYN: I love all kinds of stuff from pop to rock to r&b..... artists like Lauryn Hill, Boyz II Men, Aretha Franklin, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Gwen Stefani, Deborah Cox..Green Day...The list goes on and on...
LAUREN: I love artists like D'Angelo, Brian McKnight, Boys II Men, Stevie Wonder, and Maxwell to name a few. These artists have really paved the way for R&B/pop/soul music. I love them!
APRIL: B.E.P, Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Christina and Usher.
ELLE: We like a lot of the same people. I love BEP, Usher, Mariah, Christina, Jessica Simpson, and also I love the oldies like Stevie, Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight.
LMF: Who writes most of the music?
APRIL: All four of us write our music, along with our producer Ric. And, as of late (lol )we've started writing with various top producers from New York and Atlanta. We're really mixing it up and coming up with some amazing new material!
LMF: If you could perform with anyone out there, who would it be?
JACYN: I would love to perform with the Backstreet Boys--I think it would be great to do a dual group collaboration. Or do something with Aerosmith. That would be SO amazing!
APRIL: I would love to perform with Justin Timberlake. He's such an amazing performer. Or better yet NSYNC!!!!!
LAUREN: I would love to perform with Stevie Wonder. He is a musical icon! But we have performed with some awesome people already including Stacie Orrico, Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees, Cassidy, B2K, JoJo, and Aaron Carter to name a few : )
ELLE: I would have to say Jessica Simpson at the present moment.
LMF: Do you guys have any embarrassing moments on stage you would like to share?
APRIL: wellll haha, the first show I ever did when I got into JADA.... I had the 1st line of the first song in our set....And my mic battery was dead. So I went to sing and nothing came out..and the sound guy had to come to the front of the stage and take my mic to fix it while we performed the song. It was a little embarrassing hahahahah.
JACYN: None--yet!!!!! I am crossing my fingers!
LAUREN: Well, yes actually : ) We were doing a show with Radio Disney and as we were singing our hearts out, Elle stepped on my shoe by accident and gave me a flat tire!! haha, I had to literally bend down and put my shoe back on in front of everyone! It was funny.
LMF: What do you guys like better, recording in the studio or performing live?
JACYN: Definitely live!
APRIL: Performing live without a doubt. Wayyyy higher energy and it's just way more fun. We get pumped. :)
LAUREN: Ditto on what April said. I love performing in front of an audience, there is so much energy!
ELLE: Definitely performing live, the fans mean everything to me.
LMF: Which is your favorite song you have recorded and why?
APRIL: I don't really have a favorite song- I like all of them so far.
LAUREN: I really love Testify. It is a soulful R&B ballad and it just kicks butt :) I get chills every time I sing it!
JACYN: Right now I really dig Obvious--it is a really different sound for us and I feel like all of us can really relate to the subject matter---Bad relationships!
ELLE: I really like our new song "Obvious". It's rockin'.
LMF: If you could date one celebrity out there who would it be?
JACYN: Johnny Depp, or Josh Groban...or Ethan Embry (actor).
APRIL: hehehe....Orlando Bloom baby!
LAUREN: Haha, oh my... umm I actually don't know, I have too many celebrity crushes :)!!
ELLE: I have my man!!
LMF: What is the greatest memory in your career so far?
APRIL: I can't really pinpoint one memory, we've had a lot of great times so yea. But, I really liked meeting Jeff Timmons when we performed with him at Six Flags. I was lying in the (dressing room) trailer hangin out with one of the girls, and he opened the door and came in and introduced himself..... and it was like slow motion... haha. Yea he was realllly sweet.
LAUREN: My greatest memory so far would be the way we felt when we were on the red carpet at the Grammy's 2005!! It was so unreal to be there and we worked that carpet! We went up to VH1, MTV, E!, etc, etc, and got to be on TV! It was an incredible experience standing there surrounded by very famous celebs!
JACYN: The Grammy's by far was the most incredible experience thus far. It was like a dream. I had pictured that experience since I was a little girl...and it actually happened!!! :) I had to keep talking myself through the red carpet...It was overwhelming!
ELLE: I would say B2K because that was our first big opening act show we've done.
LMF: What is the one food you could eat 24/7?
APRIL: Uhmmmmm Nothing, I change my mind a lot and get bored easily. hahaha.
LAUREN: I could eat watermelon forever! It is the best fruit ever created :)
JACYN: KASHI GOLEAN CEREAL! Or any cereal for that matter--it is perfect!
ELLE: Lobster!! I will be your friend forever if you give me lobster :)
LMF: What CD would we find in your CD players right now?
APRIL: Kelly Clarkson
LAUREN: The Killers
JACYN: Black Eyed Peas!
ELLE: The new Mariah Carey CD, it's so good.
LMF: Where do you see yourselves in 5 years?
APRIL: Doing movies, continuing my music career. Living my life!
LAUREN: Touring the world with JADA :), and acting on the side!
JACYN: Building a house in Manchester By The Sea (My favorite place!!) and working on multiple projects-Jada, as well as working on my Broadway career :)
